Spring Break Cake Project #2 - Kidney Transplantn Cake

A friend of mine at school donated a kidney to her sister-in-law a year ago.  She asked if I would make them a Happy Transplantiversary cake as they celebrate their one year accomplishment.


9" Cake:
Vanilla WASC Cake
filled with Dream Buttercream
topped with Chocolate Ganache (1/3 Dark, 1/3 Semi-sweet, 1/3 Milk Chocolate)
Covered with Homemade Marshmallow Fondant

Kidney & Hot water bottle made with Rice Krispie treats and covered with marshmallow fondant
Artery and Vein made with licorice string cut about 2 inches and covered with gumpaste.

Plaque cut on Cake Cricut using SCAL 2.0
Lettering done using cutters
Stripes cut by hand and wavy stripe done by using a Pampered Chef cutter

Sprink Break Cake Project #1 - Retirement Cake


Most of my spring break was spent "caking".  Nothing is better than getting to be creative and messy in the kitchen!

My first project was my Mom's Retirement Party cupcakes and centerpiece:


Cake Centerpiece:
Styrofoam dummy covered with Marshmallow Fondant
Cut the Chevron design on Cake Cricut
Plaque cut on Cake Cricut using "KG Flavor and Frames" Font
Stripes on top layer cut by hand.

Cupcake Flavors:
Vanilla with Variety Buttercream Frostings
Chocolate with Variety Buttercream Frostings
Lemon with Bunny's Stabilized Whipped Frosting (White Chocolate Pudding mix)
Lemon filled with Raspberry using Bunny's Stabilized Whipped Frosting 
with Raspberry filling mixed in
Pumpkin Spice with either Cream Cheese Buttercream or Salty Caramel Buttercream
Chocolate Cupcake dipped in chocolate ganache, tipped in toffee bits, topped with Salted Caramel Buttercream and sprinkled with toffee bits

Cookie Pops:

Topped with buttercream frosting and marshmallow fondant
